WEBINAR: ADA 101 for Municipal Staff
Description: ADA 101 is a foundational webinar designed to introduce city and county employees to the core principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how it applies to local government operations. This session will help staff better understand their responsibilities in ensuring accessibility in programs, services, buildings, and public spaces. Participants will gain practical knowledge to support compliance and promote inclusivity in municipal operations across Florida.
Topics include:
• Overview of the ADA and Title II requirements for local governments
• Common accessibility barriers in municipal facilities and services
• Reasonable accommodation and effective communication
• Best practices for public engagement and complaint handling
• Understanding Florida-specific accessibility codes and overlaps
