Description

The Exposure Control for Law Enforcement webinar is a comprehensive training session designed to equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and tools to mitigate risks related to Bloodborne Pathogens, Needle Sticks, Airborne Exposures, and Narcotic Exposures. The webinar focuses on promoting officer safety, health, and well-being, while emphasizing the importance of protecting the communities they serve.


Topics Include:

  • Understanding Exposure Risks: This segment provides an in-depth analysis of the different types of hazards law enforcement officers may encounter in their daily activities. It covers biological hazards (e.g., viruses, bacteria), chemical hazards (e.g., drugs, hazardous substances), physical hazards (e.g., extreme weather conditions, accidents), and psychological hazards (e.g., stress, traumatic events).
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Participants will learn about the proper selection, use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment. The session will emphasize the importance of wearing appropriate PPE to minimize exposure to potential risks.
  • Handling Hazardous Materials: This section focuses on educating officers about proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, such as illicit drugs, chemical spills, and other dangerous substances. Safety protocols and best practices will be emphasized.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens: Officers will be educated about the risks associated with bloodborne pathogens and will learn how to minimize exposure in situations involving bodily fluids.
  • Decontamination Procedures: Participants will gain insights into decontamination protocols for themselves, equipment, and vehicles. This section emphasizes the significance of thorough decontamination to prevent cross-contamination and ensure safety.
  • Respiratory Protection: This segment covers the importance of respiratory protection and the proper use of respiratory equipment to safeguard against airborne hazards.

We DO NOT provide certificates for any webinars. If your department is using this webinar as department training simply document the completion of the training on a training roster or meeting summary form.
