FMIT Safety Webinar : Sewer Backup Prevention
Description: All local governments have a critical responsibility to maintain their sanitary sewer systems—both to protect citizens and city property that may be damaged in the case of sewer backups, and to reduce the city’s exposure to costly claims and litigation.
The municipality has a duty of care to assure that: 1) its sewers have been correctly designed and installed, 2) the system is adequately maintained through planned inspections and repair, 3) an emergency response plan is in place in case of sewer blockage and backup, and 4) any property owners affected by sewer backups receive the information and support they need.
This webinar will discuss the development and implementation of a Sewer Back Up Policy including preventative maintenance, backup response procedures, investigations, emergency response, training, and community education.
Note: We DO NOT provide certificates for any webinars. If your department is using this webinar as department training simply document the completion of the training on a training roster or meeting summary form.
Target Audience: This live webinar is best suited for organizational leadership since it provides information on planning, policy development or high-level risk management strategies that most employees are not involved in.
