Temporary Traffic Control (f/k/a MOT) Intermediate
Duration: 16 hours
Prerequisite: None

Per TTC (MOT) Administrator http://www.motadmin.com/home.aspx: Name Change: Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) name will be referred to as Temporary Traffic Control (TTC). Only "terminology" is currently being changed … All Certifications with name Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) are valid (Must be current to be valid).

Overview:
To ensure every person involved with work zone traffic control understands the standards with regard to planning, designing, supervising, implementing, and maintaining work zone traffic control.  The course curriculum covers Temporary Traffic Control/Maintenance of Traffic procedures and principles to include classroom training, problem solving and a written test. TTC/MOT certification wallet cards, which are valid for four [4] years from the date of the exam, will be issued to individuals who successfully complete this course.

Learning Objectives:
• Explain the five areas of a work zone and the traffic control devices used in each;
• Understand the requirements for national and state of Florida standards for work zone traffic safety;
• Interpret and apply the Roadway and Traffic Design Standards (RTDS) typical applications to varying work zone situations; and
• Inspect the placement and/or operational function of work zone traffic control devices as defined by RTDS.

Participant Profile:
All work zone workers.

TTC/MOT Wallet Certification Cards are issued to those successfully completing the TTC/MOT Intermediate Course. Certification lasts for four (4) years.

The 8 Hour TTC/MOT Refresher Course is required every four years thereafter for wallet cardholders to re-certify. TTC/MOT Wallet Certification Cards will be issued to those successfully completing, as well. Re-Certification lasts for four (4) years. Note: Refresher course must be successfully completed before certification expiration as listed on wallet card.
