Hazwoper is short for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response. Our courses meet or exceed the OSHA requirements for training of personnel engaged in hazardous waste operations as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.120 including removal or handling of underground tanks and/or piping, contaminated soil and/or groundwater, subsurface investigations, construction work in which hazardous materials may potentially be present, encountered, prepared, packaged, labeled, marked, stored, shipped for disposal, or any facility wherein hazardous wastes are treated, stored, or disposed.
All classes will be held at 125 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32801.

We are holding a 2-HR Hurricane Preparedness Workshop on Wednesday, July 14th, at 2:00 PM at Town of Micanopy City Hall. Your attendance is important! We will be reviewing new Claim Reporting Procedures, Financial Assistance and Workflow processes necessary to support your recovery initiatives. City Managers, Risk Managers and Finance Directors from your organization will benefit from this Workshop and should attend if planning to take advantage of the following recovery programs and services:
- FMIT TurnKey Recovery Program that enables direct payments by FMIT to Member’s contractors, including upfront material deposits and progress payments on covered property claims.
- FEMA ‘RID’ Program (Reimbursed Insurance Deductible) to assist FMIT Members with documenting applicable PA Immediate Needs Funding & expedite applicable deductible reimbursements during a declared event (presidential declaration).
- RAPID DAA (Damage Assessment Assistance) to support and add capacity to Member’s ability to evaluate damages to insured property in a timely manner. (no cost to FMIT Members)
- Recovery Program Management or Clerk-of-the-Work at no direct cost to FMIT Members to support recovery initiatives on all applicable property claims as directed by the FMIT Claims Department.

DDC-4/Defensive Driving Course
Duration: 4 Hours
Overview : Tools, tips, and techniques are provided to offer positive choices with regard to driving decisions; and, motivation is provided to drivers so they can embrace personal change in driving behaviors and attitudes. Three driving related factors are covered: the driver, the conditions and the vehicles. Knowledge and safety driving techniques are provided to prevent collisions and violations. Responsible behaviors are indicated throughout the course.
Learning Objectives:
.> Providing participants with knowledge and techniques to avoid collisions; and
> Providing influence and challenge to each participant to change their behind-the-wheel

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Risk Management for Public Entities (RMPE) course will build on content from the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) program and focus on distinctive features of public-sector risk management. It will explain how risk management for public entities and other nonprofit entities is unique. The RMPE course will also explore the entire risk management decision making process in the public sector. The instructor will emphasize how risk management differs in the private sector, both for the protection of the public entity and for the general welfare of the public which the entity serves.
COURSE FORMAT: The RMPE tutorial will begin with two full days of reviewing key handout material. On the third day, attendees will take the examination consisting of 75 multiple choice questions. Attendees will have two hours to take the exam on Saturday morning. Everyone who passes the exam will receive the professional RMPE certification and certificate of completion.
Note: This is a tutorial crash course. Due to the accelerated format, the instructor recommends ordering your course materials early enough to complete all preliminary coursework (reading the textbook and completing the study guide.) The recommended preparation time for this course is 6-8 weeks.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Bill Mason began his career in insurance working for the State Farm Insurance in 1989. In 1997, Bill entered public entity risk management as a supervisor of insurance & claims for Palm Beach County, Florida. Also in 1997, Bill joined Broward Community College’s adjunct faculty teaching the Associate in Risk Management program, Associate in Claims Management program, and various continuing education insurance courses. In 2000, Bill joined the City of Sunrise, Florida as a Risk Manager. Bill is a former Board of Director for the Public Risk Management Association, and a member of the Insurance Institute of America’s ARM Advisory Committee.
