Safety Grants help with Training Cost

Many entities are having a hard time finding the money to pay for continuing, required and/or needed safety training. The FMIT matching safety grant program was started just for such an event. For example, some members expressed interest in a HAZWOPPER class in order to know how to monitor those cleaning up areas affected by the oil spill. However, there were no additional funds available in the budget to attend this class. Well the safety grant can help. A typical HAZWOPPER class can be up to $750 per person. If an entity were to send an employee to the class, the FMIT safety grant could reimburse the entity half the cost or $375. The FMIT HAZWOPPER class cost is $550 and the FMIT safety grant could reimburse the member $275.
